Sunday evening's 2016 Tony Awards was both a mix of celebration and sadness, following the aftermath of the Orlando shooting that killed at least 50 people that morning.
The 70th annual awards show ceremony, which recognizes achievement in live Broadway theatre, was dedicated to the victims of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
"Our hearts are heavy for the unimaginable tragedy that happened last night in Orlando," tweeted the show's organizers on Sunday night. "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected. The Tony Awards dedicate tonight's ceremony to them."

"All we can say is you are not on your own right now," the talk show host said in his speech. "Your tragedy is our tragedy. Theater is a place where every race, creed, sexuality and gender is equal, embraced and loved. Hate will never win. Together, we have to make sure of that. Tonight’s show stands as a symbol and a celebration of that principle."
Other celebrities in attendance paid tribute by donning rainbow accessories, such as a "freedom flag" pin, as worn by "Hamilton" creator and star, Lin-Manuel Miranda.
