Daniel Dion, a brother of singer Celine Dion, has died.
Claudette Dion, Celine's sister, told Le Journal de Montreal Daniel, 59, had cancer of the throat, brain and tongue.
"He was ready and he no longer suffers. It was serene," she said in French to Le Journal. A news release says he died Saturday morning in a palliative care residence outside Montreal.
Daniel was one of the 14 Dion siblings, and was 12 years older than Céline, who is the youngest. Claudette told Le Journal on Friday that Daniel only had "days or hours" to live.
Celine Dion's husband, René Angélil, died Thursday following a long battle with throat cancer. A viewing for Daniel Dion will take place next Saturday, the day after Angelil's funeral is set to take place in Montreal.
